Last weekend, Basketball NSW (BNSW) celebrated 2023 with their annual weekend-long conference at Novotel Northbeach in Wollongong. CBBA Chairman, Peter Nordstrom and CBBA Manager of Basketball Operations, Lachlan Arford both represented the association throughout the weekend, attending a number of workshops addressing the important topics surrounding today’s game. The weekend ended with the BNSW Annual Awards, a celebration and acknowledgement of last season’s accomplishments, where Blacktown Basketball was recognised in two categories: Coaching Program of the Year (1001-300 members) and Volunteer of the Year (Senior).

We would like to congratulate all of our coaches who continue to give their time and support to this association. Whether through coaching the kids in our Learn to Play programs or leading our Storm teams, we recognise your commitment and hard work. We could not be awarded Coaching Program of the Year without all of you. A special mention to our Director of Coaching, Steve Sardi, for leading the CBBA Coaching Program and helping our coaches reach their goals this past season.

As an association, we are so thankful for all the effort our volunteers put into this game to keep athletes on the court. Local basketball would be nothing without its volunteers and we definitely would not be where we are without them. It is weird to congratulate myself but I am honoured to have been recognised as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year for the Senior category. My motivation continues to be the community that CBBA has and the support I get from the Board of Directors and Staff. A special thank you to Lachlan for his vision for and commitment to this association that keeps us volunteers going.
