2023 Annual General Meeting
Held on May 28, 2024
On May 28, 2024, the City of Blacktown Basketball Association (CBBA) held its Annual General Meeting, and what a year 2023 has been! Our Chairman shared an inspiring report that reflects on the tremendous growth and exciting achievements we've seen over the past year. Here are some of the key takeaways:
Celebrating Growth and Success in 2023
Membership Boom
We are thrilled to report a 13% increase in membership, with over 1300 primary members joining us. This remarkable growth is even more impressive considering we had no additional court access from 2022 to 2023.
Facility Enhancements
While we’re still waiting on the construction of new courts at KBS, we’re excited to announce that Emerton will have new wooden floors by December 2024. This upgrade will enable us to expand our programs further.
Full-Time Leadership
A special congratulations to Lachlan, who will be stepping into the role of General Manager as a full-time employee starting in 2024. His dedication and hard work have been pivotal to our success.
Representative Program Milestones
Inaugural Waratah Men’s Team
2023 marked the debut of our Waratah Men’s team, a significant step in providing competitive pathways for all players and coaches.
Achievements on the Court
Our teams had an outstanding year, including:
7x MJL Semi-Finalists
4x MJL Grand-Finalists
U16 Boys Division 1 Champions
Waratah Wheelchair Semi-Finalists
4x MJL State Cup Teams
U14 Boys State Cup Champions
U16 Boys State Cup Champions
New Programs
We introduced the Storm Academy, which promotes additional training and collaboration among our representative teams, including aspiring players outside the representative program.
Domestic Competitions and Learn to Play
Domestic Competition Growth
We saw a 29% increase in domestic competition teams, with 131 teams participating in 2023. This growth is thanks to our six major clubs, whose support has been invaluable.
Revamped Learn to Play Program
Our Learn to Play (Aussie Hoops) program was restructured in 2023, welcoming 729 participants and earning us the title of the #1 provider in Sydney Metro. Despite a slight drop from 2022, the program’s success remains strong, supported by our new sponsor, Cumberland Ford.
