About joining the Team Staff in 2025
-
Being apart of the representative coaching staff is a large commitment. It is important to CBBA to be up-front with coaches about the expectations that come with being a coach in our representative program.
Volunteer:
All representative coaching positions are volunteer based. We are a young association who rely heavily on volunteers to ensure our program runs smoothly. Please note that you are applying for a volunteer position.
Training:
You are required to attend all mandatory training sessions for your team. CBBA does its best to give our teams the best opportunities possible to learn, improve and compete. Teams will have 1 x squad training session per week (CBBA Storm Academy) and 1 x team training per week. It is a mandatory requirement to attend all sessions.
Games:
As a coach, you are required to attend and, be on time for, all pre-season games, regular season games and post-season games.
Travel:
There is the potential in all ages for some travel. MJL Div 1 and below will travel around Sydney for games, MJL JPL will be required and stay overnight for central venue weekends, WSL will also have to travel and stay over night some weekends. Junior coaches and families are required arrange travel and accomodation as required.
The Association:
You are applying to coach for the City of Blacktown Basketball Association. Meaning you abide by all CBBA rules, policies, procedures, etc. You are a representative of the Association, you are apart of a program. If you are offered a position and you accept it, you are ackownleding that you are committing to the entire Association - not just your specific team.
-
All coaches will be required to have the following:
Valid Working with Children Check
Valid Coaching Accreditation
Minimum Level 1 (Club Coach)
Play by the Rules - Mini Course, Let Kids be Kids.
-
By applying for a coaching position, you are aligning yourself with the Associations goals.
On-Court Development:
CBBA is committed to providing our players with experienced coaches that will help them improve on the court. Developing game IQ, positional skill-sets, game-management and respect for the game and everyone in it.
Off-Court Development:
Accepting a coaching role means you are accepting the fact of becoming a role model for all players that you interact with. While we are trying to develop good athletes, we are more importantly developing great people.
Winning vs Development:
Yes, we understand that winning is an element of competitive sport. However, under no circumstances do we sacrifice our integrity for wins. Developing good athletes/people comes before winning, by putting this first - winning will come naturally.
Junior-to-Senior:
Our junior coaches are tasked with laying the foundational skills and knowledge so that representative players continue to develop each season. We want our junior program to feed our senior program.
-
What does it mean to you to be apart of the City of Blacktown Storm family? Will you buy in to the big-picture and the community we are trying to build?
Representative basketball is more than just your specific team, your team expands much further than that. All CBBA: Staff, referees, board members, volunteers, other coaches, managers, parents, players, etc are on YOUR team. We are all apart of the FAMILY.
Be all in.
-
We are a working class Association, nothing is given - we need to work hard for what we want to achieve. So BE ALL IN… get involved, lend a hand, get to know your family members, lean on one another to improve.
Isolating yourself and team is not an option, you’re not just apart of a team. You are apart of a family.

CBBA has developed a in-depth document that contains all the CBBA Representative By-Laws. This document outlines all the rules and policies of being apart of the CBBA Representative Program.
You can access the By-Laws and other policies HERE.
By applying, and potentially accepting, a CBBA Representative Coaching role - you are accepting and acknowledging you will abide and be held accountable to these by-laws.
